This bill is aimed at establishing a crosscutting program of research, development, demonstration, and commercialization of technologies capable of achieving the simultaneous goals of reducing emissions while increasing technological and economic competitiveness of industrial and manufacturing processes in the United States. This legislation presents a key opportunity to address a critical challenge.”

Clean Air Task Force supports the Clean Industrial Technology Act, introduced today by Senators Whitehouse and Capito and Representatives Casten and McKinley. The industrial sector produces 25% of global CO2 emissions. But this sector has historically received the least amount support for development and deployment of technology to reduce carbon emissions. This bill would address this critical gap and provide much needed funding to catalyze these technologies, including the application of carbon capture and the use of zero carbon fuels, such as hydrogen.
