Statement from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS):

"The EPA Science Advisory Board (SAB) is charged with reviewing the quality and relevance of the scientific and technical information being used by the EPA and to advise the agency on broad scientific matters. We support a board that incorporates a strong scientific integrity policy and abides by the scientific process. We are concerned with any legislation that attempts to balance out a board like the EPA SAB with views not based on these guiding principles. Diversity of opinions in science are needed, but decisions and scientific advice must be based on evidence, not a politician's preference, a legislator's idea of balance, or a nonscientific special interest."
