(Washington, DC) — On Friday, July 16, President Biden announced his intent to nominate Laurie E. Locascio, Ph.D. for Under Secretary for Standards and Technology at the Department of Commerce and Director of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
“I’m pleased to congratulate Dr. Locascio on her nomination for Under Secretary for Standards and Technology at the Department of Commerce and Director of NIST," said Chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX). "With an impressive research career as both a scientist and a leader, and proven dedication to the United States scientific enterprise, Dr. Locascio is a great pick to serve in this critical position. Once confirmed, Dr. Locascio will be the third woman to lead NIST in its 120-year history and will undoubtedly inspire rising generations across the country as they see more female representation in leadership positions. I’m looking forward to working with Dr. Locascio as we work to advance NIST's critical mission of promoting innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology.”
