Chairwoman Johnson Responds to President Biden’s Address to a Joint Session of Congress
(Washington, DC) – On Wednesday, President Joe Biden made his first address to a Joint Session of Congress.
Chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) released the following statement.
“On Wednesday evening, President Biden spoke directly to Americans across the nation on the progress made in his first 100 days and the ambitious goals the Biden-Harris Administration has set out to achieve for the United States, from combating the climate crisis to ending gun violence. I support these priorities and investments in the future of our nation. As Chairwoman of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology I applaud the President’s commitment in his American Jobs Plan to reinvigorate our infrastructure, economy, and workforce by making broad investments in the next generation of research and development initiatives, clean energy technologies, and manufacturing in America. I was also happy to hear the President discuss his newest initiative, the American Families Plan, which looks to increase opportunities and access to education for our young people. It has long been a priority of mine to advance the education and training of the next generation of Americans, especially when it comes to building opportunities in STEM. If we are going to remain globally competitive and a leader in innovation, we must work together to reach these goals. It was a pleasure to attend the address last night, and I look forward to continuing to work with the Biden-Harris Administration as we seize this opportunity for advancing the American science and technology enterprise.”
