Gordon Joins Members for Release of Cyber Security Report

(Washington, DC) – tomorrow, Science and Technology Committee Chairman Bart Gordon (D-TN) will join other Members at the White House for the release of the Administration’s 60-day Cyberspace policy review report.

“A more secure cyberspace equals a more secure nation. The path forward must focus not only on near-term solutions to current cyber attacks, but also on leap-ahead technologies and innovative research that will fundamentally change the future state of play,” stated Gordon. “The President has made cybersecurity a priority and the Committee is looking forward to working with the Administration on this crucial issue.”

In an effort to improve cyber security, the Committee has scheduled three upcoming hearings. A joint subcommittee hearing, with the Technology and Innovation (T&I) Subcommittee and the Research and Science Education (R&SE) Subcommittee, will be held on June 16 to discuss the 60-day Cyberspace policy review report with relevant agencies.

In addition, the R&SE Subcommittee is scheduled to hold a hearing on cyber security research and development on June 10. Lastly, on June 25 the T&I Subcommittee is scheduled to hold a hearing to assess the cyber security efforts of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
