Ranking Member Johnson Statement on “A Better Deal: Tools to Succeed in the 21st Century”

(Alexandria, VA) - Today, the House Democrats unveiled a new plank of their economic agenda, A Better Deal: Tools to Succeed in the 21st Century.  This plank focuses on Democrats’ commitment to investing in America’s workers, pioneering future frontiers and modernizing government.

Ranking Member Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) made the following statement:

“The ‘Tools to Succeed in the 21^st Century’ plank of the Better Deal agenda properly stresses the role that science, technology, education, and R&D will play in the 21^st century in improving the lives of all Americans. Among other plans, this agenda calls for doubling public investments in scientific research and in STEAM education. These investments are what will enable us to create good paying jobs and maintain our competitive edge in the years to come.”
