Ranking Member Johnson’s Statement on the Confirmation of Scott Pruitt as EPA Administrator

(Washington, DC) –Today, the Senate confirmed Scott Pruitt as the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Ranking Member Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) issued the following statement:

"There's not much that can be said in opposition to Scott Pruitt as Environmental Protection Agency Administrator that hasn't already been said by scores of environmentalists, former EPA employees, and my Democratic colleagues in the Senate. Mr. Pruitt is unfit to be the leader of EPA, the agency charged with protecting public health and the environment—and the very agency he has spent his career opposing. I can only hope that now that he has been confirmed, he will take the time to learn the value of the EPA and to listen to the dedicated career staff at the agency.  I will be watching Mr. Pruitt’s actions closely and will not hesitate to speak up if he takes any actions that undermine the environmental protections successive generations of Americans have worked so hard to establish.”
