Ranking Member Lofgren Celebrates Two Years of CHIPS and Science

(San Jose, CA) – Today is the two-year anniversary of the enactment of the CHIPS and Science Act.

“In the two years since President Biden signed the CHIPS and Science Act into law, the bill has made significant impacts in every corner of the nation,” said Ranking Member Lofgren (D-CA). “Thousands of good paying jobs, billions of dollars in public and private investment, regionally focused innovation hubs, and more are transforming communities and building opportunities across the country. Democrats are delivering on their promise to invest in America by building a diverse STEM workforce, revitalizing our semiconductor manufacturing sector, boosting the economy, and ensuring the US remains competitive.

Ranking Member Lofgren continued, “187 House Republicans voted against the passage of this bill. That is 88% of the House Republicans who were in office when the bill became law. Yet many of those same Republicans who voted against the bill now celebrate it. Democrats have been steadfast in their dedication to building a brighter future for Americans across the country, while MAGA Republicans continue to try to slash funding for the very organizations that have allowed us to lead in science and innovation for decades. These dangerous cuts are made clear throughout Trump’s Project 2025. MAGA Republicans continue to occupy themselves not with the needs of the American people but with their own apparent agenda of handing over our technological leadership to our adversaries.”
