Ranking Member Lofgren Honors Nobel Laureate John Goodenough
WASHINGTON, DC - On Sunday, Dr. John Goodenough passed away at the age of 100. Dr. Goodenough was a renowned scientist who developed the lithium-ion battery. He was awarded the Nobel Prize of Chemistry in 2019 for his work.
“The life and legacy of John Goodenough will continue to impact generations upon generations,” said Ranking Member Lofgren (D-CA). “Dr. Goodenough was a trailblazing scientist whose life’s work was the key to bringing about the lithium-ion battery. He was devoted to his work, and an important advocate for rising engineers and scientists through his donations to research and scholarships. Dr. Goodenough’s battery will continue to help power our clean energy future, and we will honor the Nobel Prize Laureate for years to come.”
