Ranking Members Lofgren and Sorensen Celebrate Boeing Starliner Arrival at the ISS
(WASHINGTON, DC)—On Wednesday, NASA successfully launched its Boeing Starliner spacecraft on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket with astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore aboard. Today, the astronauts arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) after a successful docking. The spacecraft and its crew will spend the next several days at the ISS as Starliner undergoes further testing, before returning the two-person crew to Earth.
“Congratulations to NASA, the Boeing team, and all the partners involved in Wednesday's successful launch and today’s docking of the Starliner spacecraft to the ISS,” said Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren (D-CA). “After several delays over the past month, this week's successes are a great example of the importance of prioritizing safety above all else as we advance our space exploration efforts. Astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore are steadfast in their commitment to advancing our space program and I thank them for their service and bravery. I look forward to following along as this mission continues and wish them well as they prepare to return to Earth.”
