Chairwoman Johnson Arrives in Ohio to Join President Biden at Groundbreaking of New Intel Chip Factory

(Licking County, OH) – Today, Chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson arrived in Ohio to attend the groundbreaking of Intel’s newest U.S. manufacturing site.

“It is incredible to see the CHIPS and Science Act already reaping benefits across the country, including solidifying Intel’s decision to invest in its first new U.S. manufacturing site in 40 years,” said Chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX). “Chip shortages continue to impact Americans across the country; and the U.S. now has an opportunity to regain our leadership in semiconductor manufacturing. The CHIPS and Science Act is a once-in-a generation investment in American manufacturing, research, and innovation that will ensure our nation stays competitive across all leading technology sectors for decades to come.

“Intel’s two new leading-edge chip factories will boost chip production, create thousands of jobs in Ohio, and ease supply chain vulnerabilities. Being a longtime advocate for STEM education, I am excited that Intel is also investing in the next generation of the STEM workforce by partnering with educational institutions and the National Science Foundation to build a pipeline of highly skilled talent. I’m so glad to be here with President Biden today, and I look forward to seeing the cutting-edge technology and innovation that will come from Intel’s facility in the future.”
