Ranking Member Johnson Congratulates Recipients of the 2011 National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology and Innovation

(Washington, DC) – Today, Ranking Member Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) joined President Obama at the White House to honor the recipients of the 2011 National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. 

Ranking Member Johnson said, “I sincerely congratulate all of these recipients.  Their accomplishments are significant achievements.  Not only has their work made important contributions to their fields, but they also serve to inspire future generations to pursue careers in STEM fields, which is essential for America’s long term economic growth and competitiveness. I thank the honorees for their work and wish them luck in all of their future endeavors.”

The National Medal of Science is an honor bestowed by the President to individuals in science and engineering who have made important contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of behavioral and social sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and physics.
